Eric Dang Joins Ragon Faculty

We are excited to announce that Eric Dang, PhD, will be joining the Ragon Institute as a new faculty member, where he will lead the Dang Lab. Eric will serve as a Core Member of the Ragon Institute and also hold an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Immunology at Harvard Medical School.

Eric received his bachelor’s degree in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University, where he conducted research on the metabolic transcription’s control over tolerogenic regulatory T cells and inflammatory T cells. Eric then spent a stint as a visiting scientist at the National Institute for Medical Research in London where he studied the epigenetic regulation of cytokine expression in macrophages. He went on to receive his PhD in Biomedical Sciences and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, where he used forward genetic approaches to study mechanisms of immune system manipulation by the fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans.

Eric’s research focuses on host-fungal interactions with the immune system. The overall goal of the Dang Lab will be to define the mechanisms that underly the induction and outcome of protective versus detrimental immunity in response to fungi and to understand how fungal colonization or infection alters the host. The ultimate objective will be to develop novel strategies to target these mechanisms therapeutically.

We are grateful to welcome Dr. Dang to our faculty and look forward to supporting his research.
